Objective
Cascade was appointed by Aviva and Sellar to manage community engagement, workshops and consultation for proposals to deliver an 11-storey office block on Bermondsey Street and a restoration and extension of one of the last derelict warehouses in the area.
Our role
To support the plans, Cascade devised and implemented a programme of engagement with key stakeholders and the wider community – which included early workshops with the local community informing the design of the proposals, presentations to councillors, a comprehensive messaging workshop with the development team and council officers, and a series of wider consultation events.
The planning application was approved unanimously at Southwark Planning Committee in April 2023.
In presenting these proposals back to the LB Southwark, we have also worked extensively to ensure local community involvement in the proposals from the beginning.
This has included:
- Pre-amendment consultation and engagement between September 2018 and November 2018.
- Two rounds of public consultation events in December 2021 and May 2022, with over 2000 invitations to residents and businesses sent ahead of each consultation.
- Ongoing meetings / engagement with key local
- stakeholders and groups including invitations to meetings and consultation events.
- Meetings with London Bridge and West Bermondsey Councillors, Council officers and Cabinet Members.
- Extensive pre-application meetings and engagement with Southwark Council Officers.
