Cascade was appointed to deliver strategic advice to support a plot of land being allocated within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames local plan. The site covers 53 acres and is bounded by Clayton Road to the south, the A3 to the west and north and council-owned land to the east. Before the A3 was built, this land was part of Elmbridge but it is now cut off from the green belt by the road. The site was not reclassified when the A3 was built and therefore still holds green belt status despite being inaccessible to the public and home to storage and industrial uses.

Our work on the project ensured that councillors and members of the community understood the scheme’s benefits, which resulted in 138 letters of support being submitted in response to the council’s local plan consultation.
