One of the capital’s most historically sensitive developments
Objective
Acting on behalf of the Church Commissioners, Cascade oversaw engagement for one of London’s most historically sensitive new build developments, a new Library within the grounds of Lambeth Palace.
Our Role
The iconic new structure, which has received numerous awards for its architecture, was not without its critics during the planning stages, attracting interest from the most high-profile figures across the Church of England, Monarchy and Westminster.
The proposals were scrutinised by many groups – community, statutory, heritage, political, neighbouring landowners – as well as by tourists who could view the plans on display in the Great Hall, the media, largely focused on architecture and design, and the church press.
Impact
Lambeth Palace Library was approved in 2017 and is now complete. Owing to our management of its high-profile stakeholders and its sensitive location, our work was shortlisted at the 2017 Public Affairs Awards for Planning Campaign of the Year.
