Objective

To provide strategic communications advice and stakeholder engagement support to CIT Group for their Planning Application for the redevelopment of the Park Lane Mews Hotel and Residences.

Our role

In order to effectively engage local stakeholders and promote the benefits of the proposals, Cascade devised and implemented a detailed programme of engagement with politicians, stakeholder groups, local businesses and the wider community.

Alongside working to identify and contact stakeholder groups, such as the Westminster Society and Mayfair Neighbourhood Forum, our team carried out extensive research through the previous applications to understand the historical issues raised by local residents and inform the project narrative.

Impact

Immediate engagement following the 2022 election ensured regular dialogue with the three councillors for West End ward. Councillors were invited to shape the approach to consultation and engagement with key local groups, providing a platform for discussion at a time when post-election engagement was particularly sensitive.

Given the site’s location, early engagement was also undertaken with several stakeholder groups, which helped explain the proposals and promote wider consultation.

This intensive programme of engagement supported the successful consent of the plans. Construction of the new hotel and residential buildings is now well advanced and nearing completion.
