Strategic advice and stakeholder engagement for NHS Estate Modernisation Programme

Objective

Our objective is to advise the SW London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust on the delivery of their Estates Modernisation Programme, which spans their operations across five London boroughs: Merton, Wandsworth, Richmond, Kingston and Sutton, and includes land disposal, planning and development.

Our Role

A long-standing client, Cascade provides strategic advice to the NHS Trust to enable the delivery of mental health care facilities and services alongside new homes and other local services such as schools and care facilities. We provide guidance on engagement with local politicians and community groups across the five boroughs and have managed large-scale consultations for a new 32-acre park at Springfield University Hospital in Tooting facilitating workshops for local groups, as well as for development plans at Tolworth Hospital and Barnes Hospital, which included a SEN school and new homes.

Impact

Approval for several planning applications including two new state-of-the-art hospitals, an SEN school, new homes and the associated improvements to mental health services in South West London.

Creation of a Community Forum at Springfield Hospital and a regular community newsletter which received praise from stakeholders as a step forward in more proactive engagement on development plans and in helping breakdown the barriers to mental health within the community.

Cascade is also retained by the Trust’s delivery partners including STEP, Barratt London and London Square to advise on planning and implementation.
